English: Persuasive Writing (Pathos, Logos, Ethos)

Pathos is a quality that evokes pity or sadness

Pathos is used to persuade an audience by appealing to their emotions. authors use pathos to invoke sympathy for the audience; to make the audience feel what the author wants them to feel.

For instance: "if we don't move soon, we are all going to die! can't you see how dangerous it would be to stay?" 

Whenever someone try to make you feel bad enough to do something, they're using pathos as a rhetorical tool. pathos examples in everyday life include: a teenager tries to convince parents to buy him a new car by saying if they cared about their child's safety they'd upgrade him.

Logos is the principle of reason and judgment, associated with the animus

Logos is used to refer to the use of logic and reasoning in crafting a piece of persuasive writing or rhetoric. Logos can also be thought of as the text of the argument, as well as how well a writer has argued his/her point.

For instance: 'All men are mortal. Socrates is a man.'

Other examples of logos being used by a politician to plea for a tax reform: 'Our country has the highest income tax in the world.' Our own small businesses cannot compete with such a relatively high tax burden. therefore, the government should lower corporate income tax rates.

Ethos is the characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community manifested in its attitudes and aspirations

Ethos can be applied to writing and public speaking, and all writers use ethos to a certain extent to establish authority on a given subject and to build trust with readers.

Examples of ethos can be shown in your speech or writing by sounding fair and demonstrating your expertise or pedigree. For instance: 'As a Doctor, I am qualified to tell you that this course of treatment will likely generate the best results.'

What are we doing? -

Personification

The life of a pink shower gel can.

At first i felt the can it was heavy, smooth, round.


 I slowly felt myself when I sprayed the gel on the paper, i felt like the can was realising all the tears out.

Now i feel the can and it feels lighter than before like it has cried out, and all the bad feelings and thoughts had been released through crying.

What was your experience of this activity? My experience was ok, and I guess. I think the activity means to understand other peoples feelings, when you hurt them or something like that.

What did you learn?
I learnt that everything you say or any action you do can effect the other people around you.

My Task for reading was to create a blog post about the Story, and to recall the main events in the story, that has happened so far.

The story starts off by intro of the main character, Jo Berludi. - His name is Jonah. Jonah Berludi. Private investigator, Jonah Berludi. Most People call him Jo. Jo's partner is woof his dog. Sometimes at night when Woof is outside Jo lets him in without his mum knowing. For his eighth Birthday, He got given a detective kit. the kit includes binoculars, a magnifying glass, a torch, finger print powder, with a note book and pen. the kit even includes a moustache and cap.

He starts investigating after school. "There is a mystery that could never be solved." As Mrs Pickwick and Mr Pickwick, his neighbours who's, underpants has disappeared off their close line. As he starts to investigate on the missing underpants

Is it important to show respect?

Topic - Is it important to show respect?/Why is Respect important because...


 It is kinda important to respect, other people, like using your manners,/ good words that do not put them down. Or even holding a door open for someone or doing something like holding something for some one. Or even standing on a bus and letting, someone else to sit on a seat/ or letting someone else that is standing, to sit in your seat on a train.

Why is it important to show respect because you'll, just end up as a bully or other people may see how rude you are and may not let you do a thing, or you may be banned from somewhere, or even stealing you could get caught but. But  if you be honest, it will be opposite. You will be able to do the this you want to do, you will be nice and be respecting other people, the way you want to be treated. You won't get banned from any where, you wont steal.

Axolotl Project/Maths DLO

they are cute, because I used to own a brownish greyish one, but

Dear Mr. Mitchell,

I’m Tyra from 8Bh. I’m  writing this letter to inform you about my support
for fitness with a  few reasons, why fitness will help you in the future.
I do not mind fitness at all.  

Fitness is good for you. It helps by getting you motivated
for that day. It will mostly stop you from moaning (if you do.)

It is  good to just warm up in the morning outside if is cold.  
As it is just fun to hang out with friends that are a different year level to you.

It is good to gather all the yr 7's and 8's together. Sometimes you have
challenge groups like 7 vs 8 and girls vs boys they are really fun to do.
I have my least favourite challenge, burpees.

I believe Fitness really helps you for your health and your future life.
So in the future   you are not collapsing on the ground at anytime soon.

She saw it coming around the corner of her eye. As a large hand held grasp of her pale face, as she cold not breath as fainted in the grasp of the blury figure, she could not see clearly anymore, all she could see, was as she lost her breath as a of a grin on a blury figure stood above her, as her vision faded away, as she collapsed of the spiky bedding of grass bellow her. As the moon arisen, into to the faint sunset of the sky above... As her vision regained as she found herself in a old sack that smelt like old potatoes.

 "where am i?" she mumbled, as her breath got heavier, as the sack moved a tumbled on its side as she felt like she was on a some sort of truck as she opened the sack a slight bit she finally breath properly as she felt like she was in a dark mass of void as she tried to opened the sack fully, but as the track stopped she heard some voices that were heading her way as she went back into the sack... As the back doors of the truck opened...

Reading Plus

For reading our task was to create a blog post about a website called Reading plus. Reading plus is a website to help improve your reading skills. It helps with three reading skills that include. Reading skills , your vocabulary skills and your visual skills. It has helped me improve my vocabulary by, correcting  my wrong answer, and it has helped me learn new meanings of different words that I've learnt so far.

Showing Respect

Today our task was to do something respectful at interval to help someone out or do a good deed. And to write a blog post about what you did.

My good deed was opening a door for some other people.
 I opened the door to the entrance of the student offices as I let some people through the door.  As I walked through the student office as I caught up to Ruby. As she had the other door open waiting for me.

Extra Note: By showing respect you can make a smile on people faces other people will appreciate you're deeds. Sometime you will get rewarded, sometimes you may not.

The New Improved school

Yesterday the new building opened and was fished our class go to go on a tour through the building I was so excited, as we walked through the new part of the gym it was so cool we got to even look inside the changing room and Ruby c was fangirling about a showers and the automatic light 's as well... as we the whole class walked the the narrow passage to the old gym as me and ruby  connected hand and swung around for a bit until we left....

As we walked to the main building as we walked through cafeteria I saw so many vivid colours I was surprised from the new library as well, as I walked into the library even more in the distance I could see automatic doors! For the front entrance I was amazed by the huge stair seating.... 

Over all of the new school my overall experience of the new building is 10/10!

Collecting Water

Planning

Aim:

I want to find out if you can remove salt from water.

Method:

1. Get a big bucket
2. Full it with water and then add some salt
3. Place a cup in the middle of the bucket, make sure that the cup rim is higher than the water level.
4. Cover the top of the bucket with glad rap and place a rock on it, in the of the glad rap
5. Put the bucket outside where it wont tip over.
6. Look at it in the next morning there should be some water in the cup and salt on the bottom of the bucket.
7. There might still be some drops of water on the glad rap.

Equipment:

• Water
• Salt
• A Big Bucket
• Glad Rap
• A Stone
• A Glass Cup

Brief results: 

We had to leave it for a week in the bucket, the results are that we made 40mls of fresher water than before from the salty water... Next time we need multiple of bucket's with salt water and a beaker in the centre to make 2 litres of not as salty water so we can survive a day...

Health/Hauora in Science

Aim : I want to find out, if I can keep meat safe by putting salt, and BBQ flavouring onto it.

Planing:

Needed: ingredients and  materials

• 3 bit's of Raw Beef
• Salt
• Sugar
•  Lemon grass, seasoning/BBQ 
• Scrap paper or paper towels

Method:

1. Sit the 3 bit's of meat on  a tray/pile of scrap paper. 
2. Have three slices with  salt and, seasoning/BBQ flavour... don't put not too much salt other wise it will be to salty, then rub some BBQ seasoning of it
3. And Leave on plain (with nothing on it)
4. Get some string
5. then at last... hang them with some string some where that is out of reach of pets or young children then place below some, scrap paper or paper towels underneath them and wait and leave them a week...
6. Watch whats happens (if u want)

I was really hard I smelt some seasoning it hasn't gone mouldy because it had seasoning and salt it was delicious mostly every one ate it... great thing i ever made beef jerky.... but it was a bit salty... next I would try to put less next time

The the beef jerky was covered with salt to preserved it then covered with... a layer of BBQ seasoning then dried out by hanging the strips of meat by hanging them by strings then left it for a week...

I ran away in the distance, then I tripped and fell, into tears and passed out. A couple hours later. . . I woke up in the darkness I couldn't see anything, then my eyes adjusted I could kind of see then I set fire, in the middle of nowhere. . .  then I feel asleep,. In the Morning . . . I woke up wit a shock of fright, I was wide awake, then I got a sudden shock down my arm. . . wit a pulse strike in tears I passed out and didn’t have a clue who shot the arrow at my arm, wit a scream of pain. . .

It Jumped at me with a scream of error - tation , The thing went straight through me like a nightmare in a day dream. . . wit a panic shock My Heart was racing, like a Motor bike I didn’t know what to do I slowly backed away then I hit something, wit a scream of shock the blurry Monster, disappeared in the distance. . . I didn't know what to do . . . with tears rolling down my face wit shock. . . “I shouldn't of went on my own”
